When public bodies call us

When a public programme needs clearer accountability

Common reasons to seek support include:

  • Shared data across organisations

    Clarify arrangements and responsibilities.

  • New services or systems

    Address privacy and governance early.

  • Scrutiny or assurance requirements

    Organise decisions and supporting evidence.

  • Capacity or ownership gaps

Establish the right senior support and reporting.

How we think

Make the decision accountable

Connect the decision with a responsible owner, an assessment of risk, a recorded action and evidence for reporting. This explains a relationship, not an accredited model or a guarantee.

  1. Decision

Define the decision and its purpose.

  2. Accountable owner

    Identify responsibility and escalation.

  3. Assessed risk

    Understand the relevant exposure.

  4. Recorded action

    Document the agreed response.

  5. Assurance reporting

Give decision-makers a clear evidence trail.

Our DHSC work led the legal and information-governance workstream and Probity Cell programme management within the NHS COVID-19 app programme.

Working with us

Proportionate, stage by stage

An engagement uses the stages appropriate to its scope — usually a defined project or embedded specialist support. Our delivery architecture runs Assess → Build → Manage → Assure → Improve; not every engagement includes all five.

  1. Assess

Establish the requirement, existing governance and the decisions in scope.

  2. Build

Develop frameworks, assessments and records where they are missing.

  3. Assure

Review controls and supporting evidence, with the review arrangements and any independence requirements agreed in the scope.

  4. Improve

Agree prioritised actions and track them to closure where commissioned.

Defined engagement

Focused on a specific requirement with clear deliverables.

Managed or retained support

Ongoing specialist support where continuity matters.

Buyer questions

Questions before you engage

Can you support a programme involving several public bodies?

Yes. We agree the scope around the bodies, responsibilities and governance questions involved. For the South West London Better Care Fund we developed the legal and technical framework for professionals to share records across organisational and borough boundaries.

Can you work alongside our DPO, legal and delivery teams?

Yes. Our DHSC work involved leading a workstream within a larger programme. Embedded support is scoped to defined responsibilities and reporting lines, alongside your existing teams.

What information and involvement would you need from us?

The requirement, the organisations and decisions involved, timescales and any existing governance records, plus access to the people who own the relevant decisions. We confirm anything further when scoping.

How are scope, responsibilities and fees agreed?

We confirm scope, responsibilities and fee in a written proposal. Published starting and typical investment bands are on our How We Work page.

What can you provide for procurement and assurance review?

Company, security and procurement evidence is available in our Trust Centre, and relevant case-study evidence can be requested. Submit a requirement or RFP for a written proposal.
